bike to work day
logo/brand development for web/print
A lot of cities in Canada and around the world have a Bike to Work Day. Winnipeg wanted to set theirs apart by showing the dynamic and energetic attitudes that its residents have about cycling and that was the inspiration point for the Bike to Work Day brand development. The completed logo shows the interconnectedness of everything on Earth and how an act as simple as biking to work can affect our global environment. This imagery combined with some recognizable Winnipeg icons creates a powerful and identifiable symbol that translates well from web to print.

dream | on futons
logo/brand development for web/print

“Dream | On Futons” used to be “Dream on Futons.” They wanted to re-brand their business to appeal to the trendy young people that reside in Osborne Village (the location of the shop) - a key demographicc they were not selling well with. Their logo was primarily leopard print, they didn’t have a website, and the signage on the front of the store was minimal. The solution: Changing the business name to break apart the word “dream” from the phrase “on futons” by using a simple line. Then, an updated logo that was sleek, minimal and thin was created. A new colour scheme using monochromatic greys, black and white was chosen and was applied to the business card, store signage, website and the interior design of the store.

angles hair design
brand development for print

Angles Hair Design is a well-established salon with reputable stylists and an impressive who’s-who of Winnipeg clientele. For them I designed appointment cards, business cards and mailer cards. All of them had to be unique with no common elements aside from the business name. Angles does not have a logo they use, so this posed a challenge. They wanted all items identifiable as something from Angles but each with its own unique style.

This challenge was met with excitement as I had to find some common element to link all the design and that element I chose was: brocade. As the client base is predominantly stylish females I felt brocade would create the appropriate atmosphere and allowed for easily updating allowed for easily updating the design with new styles as time passed.

lululemon athletica
print ad development

lululemon athletica is a business with a strong sense of self. They know what their goals are, they know who their customers are and they know how to build a relationship with someone. So when it came time to do a print ad for a Polo Park Shopping Centre promotion booklet that the goals were clear: Promote health, happiness and yoga -- straightforward and simple. The advertisement was designed to use lululemon’s signature colour: Red. This promoted brand identity and made it easily recognizable to existing customers. I photographed the model from very up high in the lululemon store using their natural hardwood floors as the backdrop of the ad. The design of the ad itself was to promote the lululemon logo and the yoga pose in the photo. Simple and effective.

miyabi japanese restaurant
logo/brand development for print

Miyabi Japanese Restaurant wanted to reach out and encourage those Winnipeg residents who had not yet tried sushi to come to their restaurant and try theirs. By targeting this segment of the market they had a unique marketing opportunity which I took advantage of in the creation of their new slogan “Let sushi change you.”

My task was to create a new logo, menu and business card that reflected their updated decor, primarily youth target market as well as attracted those who had not yet had sushi. The result was a Las Vegas/Los Angeles “destination restaurant”-style logo--almost illegible but easily recognizable. The colour scheme was extremely minimalist and very high-contrast just as the restaurant itself is (very dark atmosphere with unique dim hand-made candles at each table.)

The end-result of the project was a cohesive black and white design that created a sexy feel and encouraged you to go to Miyabi to “let sushi change you.”

machon madrichim
logo/brand development for web/print

Machon Madrichim is a program of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg and is leadership training program for kids in grades 10 and 11. It teaches Judaism, traditions, celebrations, psychology and group dynamics as well as leadership and planning techniques. As it is run day-camp style the program needed a logo and promotional poster series to attract both kids and their parents. The decision was to go with a collegiate-style logo that could easily be placed on clothing and signage paired with posters that used bright colours, photos of smiling kids and left the viewer with a university campus programming feel. For this project I designed both the logo and the promotional posters as well as created the slogan “Are you M?”
